Highest protection against unauthorised key duplication
MCS stands for Magnetic Code System (Magnet-Code-System). It checks every key three times: via one magnetic and two mechanical codings.
The cylinder core holds 8 rotating magnetic rotors, which are matched to the 4 magnetic pills in the key. When the key is withdrawn, the rotors always take up a different position. Each magnetic pill in the key can be magnetised independently on both sides.
When an MCS key with the matching magnetic coding is in the cylinder, it brings all magnetic rotors into the locking position. Control curves then push 2 pressure sliders forward, and the key locks.
The magnets are unaffected by all magnetic fields that occur in everyday life. The permanent magnets last a long time and can neither be remagnetised nor demagnetised by conventional means.
Mechanically, a longitudinal profile and a positively guided locking-pin check on both key backs verify the authorisation, supplemented by a manipulation check.
