4KS is the most resistant of the mechanical locking systems. With its patented, spring-free curve technology it is suitable even for the toughest applications.
4KS stands for four-curve system. Unlike conventional locking systems, the locking elements are not pressed against spring force but are moved by the curves milled into the key.
The technology in detail: 12 spring-free, solid tumbler elements (locking pins) are brought into specific positions by the positive guidance of the 6 key curves and are checked by 2 pressure sliders. A locking bar in the core checks the key's cross profile.
During the locking process the 4KS key is checked 4 times in total – three times more than with other systems. The spring-free locking-pin function provides high wear resistance and protection against picking, and the technology allows a very large number of variations for cylinder master-key systems.
